What’s Been Going on These Days?
How time flies when you’re isolating! Winter is over, Spring sped by and summer is beginning to wane. I won’t bemoan the lack of diverse scenery or stimulating experiences this past year, because I know that I, and my family, are some the fortunate ones. We are still employed, healthy and safe in our community. Still, this new normal is anything but. And with that all said, it is my wish that you too have been safe, and healthy.
During this time I have continued to develop my series, Not Yo’ Granny’s Linen, The Recipe Box and File it. These series have all been percolating within me for quite some time — some them for years. I feel a great sense of relief and gratitude that I have been able to release this work into the public realm over the past year.
In addition to developing new bodies or work, I invested in my first online art class, theymakeart.com, with husband and wife team Brian and Debbie Miller. This comprehensive painting course was a do-on-your-own-time set up with pre-recorded lessons. I found it both stimulating and exhausting. So much concentration was required (for me) to keep up with each lesson. I have put the lessons on hold until the summer finishes and I can once again stay indoors guilt-free to paint — perhaps by the end of September I’ll get back into it.
Lastly, and equally as important as everything else, my website has been updated to reflect my new work. My dear hubby set me up with a Word Press site so we can edit it as needed. So much easier and more professional than the hand-coded one that I designed years ago.
My next big goal will be to post an official launch of this site via Instagram and tag in some big names… cuz you just never know who’s in the market…
Until then, stay safe, be kind, respect yourself and others and make and/or support the arts!!
